Restoration of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway, Nawaz Sharif has accepted our project was right: Ch Parvez Elahi
Instead of stopping project in our opposition should have put own plaque then cost escalation would not have caused national loss of Rs 20.85 billion
Lahore: 20-07-2017: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that restoration of Sialkot-Lahore motorway project has proved that even Nawaz Sharif has at last accepted our project totally right, if this project was also not stopped in our opposition then it would have been completed in 2010 and a huge save of Rs 20.85 billion would have also been effected.
Ch Parvez Elahi said in a statement issued here today (Thursday) that his government had started Sialkot-Lahore motorway project in 2006 and then its cost was only Rs 23 billion, if Shehbaz Sharif had not stopped it and let it be completed on time then huge loss to the national exchequer due to cost escalation on account of delay, which has been caused now, would not have been occurred.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that this motorway was to start from Sambrial on Sialkot-Wazirabad Road and reach Lahore and it would have also been connected to Gujrat near Shahbazpur on river Chenab, Shehbaz Sharif not only stopped this project in our opposition but showing his enmity towards people of Gujrat also abolished its link with Gujrat.
He said on this project also Nawaz Sharif government has put own plaque like our other projects but in this way it has been accepted that our government project was fully in the interest of the people and it was stopped in enmity of the people. #
