Increasing cooperation in electronic and agricultural industries between two countries needed, peoples contact campaign be launched, Korean Ambassador

Lahore: 24-07-2019: Ambassador of South Korea Sung-Kyu Kwak and parliamentary delegation called on Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi at his residence here today (Wednesday)

Korean National Assembly Ms Bae-Sook Chu and Voon-Chun Chug and six senior diplomats also.

Korean Ambassador and Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi emphasized on enhancing bilateral relations and contacts between the two countries.

The Korean envoy said that there is need for starting campaign for contacts at peoples level for further strengthening the bilateral relations, we have quite friendly relations with Pakistan from the beginning, Korean people are very impressed by Pakistan particularly Punjabi culture.

He said he had the opportunity of witnessing the flag lowering ceremony at Wahgah Border yesterday; this scene is unparalleled from emotional point of view.

He said that our agricultural industry wants to work in collaboration with agricultural industry of the Punjab particularly in food items, there is also need for further increasing cooperation in electronic industry because Pakistan has big electronics industry.

Warmly welcoming 9 member delegation, Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi said that mutual cooperation and relations in different sectors between the two countries is 45 years old, in recent years bilateral trade has reached the level of more than one billion dollars which is a proof of increasing ties between the two countries.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is very much determined to overcome prevailing economic crisis and is emphasizing on conducive and peaceful atmosphere for investment and developmental policies. He said both Pakistan and Korea can greatly benefit by enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, information technology, telecom, energy and other sectors.

Thanking head Chairperson of Pak-Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group and National Assembly Member Ms Bae-Sook Chu on her coming, he said that this group is the best forum for boosting cooperation between the parliaments for the benefit of the peoples of both the countries whereas frequent exchange of delegations will also boost the mutual relations. Ch Parvez Elahi expressed the hope that our mutual ties will be further expanded and deepened in the future.

He said that Pak-Korea relations have always remained positive, difficulties faced by the Korean industrialists in establishing industries in Pakistan particularly in the Garments City Faisalabad and Sunder Industrial Estate Lahore will be addressed and solved on priority basis and full cooperation will be extended in this regard.

He said as the Chief Minister, he had got many mega projects were launched and completed particularly establishing small dams, ensuring provision of water at tail, roads networks, subsidy for farmers, cheap fertilizer, construction of farm to market roads, concrete water courses and other works which helped in developing the province. .

Ch Parvez Elahi also apprised the delegation about the history and working of the Punjab Assembly.
