Matters be solved with all channels owners and dues be paid: Ch Shujat Hussain’s letter to PM
Your loss being caused rather than those creating distances instead of closeness with media, 24 News license be restored, as PM I had directed on news against government tolerance and no compromise on national interest, solution of all problems is supremacy of the Constitution and law
Lahore: 06-07-2020: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujat Hussain as ally and well-wisher has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan wherein he has stated that Information Minister be directed to sit with the channels owners and sort out the matters and for payment of salaries to the workers, dues of the media be paid because distance with the media is causing loss only to him.
On ban on Channel 24, Ch Shujat Hussain said in his letter that as head of the ally party I am writing this letter to you, hope that you will not take it in the context of criticism, rather what is talked about reforms before the government it should not be taken as criticism, such distances are created between the government and the media due to which those creating distances incur no loss rather loss is being only and only of yours.
Ch Shujat Hussain said that the media if the fourth pillar of the State and for stability of the State this pillar essentially be also stable, confrontation with the media is not appropriate in any case, I had earlier also informed you about the arrest of daily Jang Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakilur Rehman and now writing a letter on the suspension of 24 News license, from recent action against 24 News this impression is gaining strength that the fourth pillar of the State is being targeted, right of freedom of express given in the Constitution is being curbed whereas the motherland is already confronting sorts of crisis.
He said that when I was the Prime Minister, then Information Minister Sh Rashid Ahmad Sahib had come to me with a summary in which it was written that whosoever deposit Rs 50 lakh fee for TV license he should be given TV license without any obstruction, then as the Prime Minister had said that Rs 50 lakh fee is not required, such a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) wherein any news against the government should be tolerated with patience but there should be no compromise at all on any story against the national interest and rather action should be taken such tv channel, Some days back I had asked Senator Shibli Faraz Sahib who is presently Information Minister that you are son of Ahmad Faraz Sahib, hopefully you will tread on the footsteps of your father because your father is looked upon with respect in every sphere of life.
Ch Shujat Hussain further said that all matters can be solved through understanding and accommodation, hopefully you will ask the Information Minister to solve all matters with all channels owners by sitting on the table, their dues should be cleared so that the media workers can be paid their salaries, further step to suspend the 24 News license be withdrawn forthwith so that the media workers are saved from unemployment because solution of all problems lies in the supremacy of the Constitution and law. #
