Construction of new dams will provide cheap electricity and abundant water for irrigation: Ch Parvez Elahi
In a meeting with the Acting Governor Punjab, WAPDA Chairman Muzzammil Hussain said that work on Mohmand, Dasu and Diamer Bhasha dams is in full swing
Lahore: 12-02-2021: WAPDA Chairman Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Muzzammil Hussain called on Acting Governor Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and briefed him on WAPDA projects.
Chairman WAPDA said that work on major hydropower projects is in full swing. The construction of Mohmand, Dasu and Diamer Bhasha dams will save millions of acres of water and also generate thousands of megawatts of cheap electricity.
He said that Insha-Allah Mohmand and Dasu will reach completion by 2025 while Diamer Bhasha Dam will reach completion by 2028.
Appreciating the performance of Chairman WAPDA, Ch Parvez Elahi expressed hope that the construction of new dams would be completed within the stipulated time which would provide affordable electricity and abundant water to the people for irrigation.
Secretary WAPDA Fakhr-uz-Zaman Cheema, Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti and GM Sikandar were also present in the meeting. #
