Lahore: 08-06-2021: Delegation of Punjab Professors Lecturers Association headed by Secretary General Mrs Naheeda called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi here today (Tuesday).
Delegation included Assistant Professor Misbah Shaheen, Mrs Qideel Asif, Bushra Naveed, Assistant Professor Mrs Nabeela Haroon whereas on this occasion Ch Mohammad Asif Mahmood Dhool and Mirza Abid advocate were also present. The delegation apprised Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi about their problems.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that the Punjab Government should change its policy regarding closure of colleges, colleges be withdrawn from the universities and made autonomous so that poor students’ education do not suffer and will not allow closure of colleges up to FA in Punjab.
He said this cannot that when the universities need they bring colleges buildings and staff within their framework, in the beginning to make the universities successful using colleges as feeder and then pushed them away, what sort of justice is this, where the children have taken education up to FA there former status of the colleges should be restored, process of education of poor children should not be stopped.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that with closure of the colleges, the future of thousands of poor students will be ruined; on closure of government colleges poor parents cannot get costly education of private colleges for their children. He said that the Punjab Government is duty bound to provide students good and quality education, to upgrade colleges is the responsibility of the Punjab Government. #
